ABOUT JORGE

Jorge was born in Glendale, CA and moved to Florida as a child where he discovered his passion for martial arts. He began teaching at the age of 16 and later opened Champions for Life with his wife, Kim. Jorge taught and mentored hundreds of children throughout the course of his life - most of whom consider him to be a real-life superhero and continue to aspire to be “just like Mr. Jorge.”

In Florida, he spent ten years in the fire service as a firefighter, paramedic and lieutenant. His passion for helping others and his desire to challenge himself led him to the Austin Police Department where he became a police officer and ultimately fulfilled his dream of earning a position on the SWAT team. Of everything he did in his career, Jorge was most proud of his service in the Honor Guard for both the Seminole Tribe of Florida and APD. He was fiercely loyal and protective of the people who were lucky enough to be loved by him.

He had a passion for training, fitness and helping others which is the driving force behind his foundation. His work ethic, drive and ambition was second to none and continues to motivate officers to be the best version of themselves to this day. His energy, magnetism and smile made him someone everyone wanted to be around and he truly went to work every day to make the city of Austin and the department better. Help us honor his legacy by building on the FOUNDATION he has laid out through his service and dedication.

TRAINING

Our goal is to provide funding to officers seeking further training and to ultimately build a state-of-the-art training facility in Austin. This facility will provide law enforcement and other first responders with a realistic space to run through scenarios, improve tactical skills and learn additional skills that will enable them to better serve our community.

As we work toward the larger goal of building a training facility, funds raised now will fulfill the current needs of officers wishing to attend training that may not be covered by their departments. Everyone benefits from training and by providing greater access to meaningful tactical training, we improve the lives of officers and safety of our community.

FITNESS & WELLNESS

If officers aren’t able to care for themselves, they can’t take care of their community. Our goal is to provide a variety of programs that improve both the mental and physical wellness of police officers.

The training facility will include a state-of-the-art gym for officers with 24/7 access, engaging wellness programs, mentorship opportunities, office space for debrief sessions & education and much more!

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We will strive to bridge the gap between local law enforcement and the citizens they serve through a variety of ways. We will invite & encourage members of the community to attend annual JPF fitness events to provide an environment that celebrates our similarities instead of differences in a fun & relaxed environment.

Our BLUE LOVE initiative will highlight local businesses that show their support of local law enforcement. Support can be shown in a number of ways including offering officers a discount for services & products, donating a portion of their proceeds to the foundation or simply offering space to create awareness of the foundation and promote upcoming events.
